$1 chandelier cieling plate

I picked up this chandelier ceiling plate at the thrift store a year ago, knowing where I wanted it, but I hadn't taken the time to get it done.  Also, I was waiting for my husband's help since I had never changed or installed a light before.  But while I was playing in my daughter's room today I thought "what the heck, I'm just gonna try it".  So, two hours later, I had it figured out!! It was simple, so read on if you want to know how I did it!

I unscrewed it with my drill and figured out how to unhook everything.

I took a picture to remember how everything was hooked.  Since I was by myself (except for my two little munchkins) It was quite hard to hold that heavy thing while screwing and unscrewing.  I recommend to have someone there to help hold while you install.  But if you are impatient like me, it is possible to do it by yourself! 

Here is my proof that I took it off all by myself.  Now the trick was to get it back up. I always dive into a project not knowing exactly how I will do it!

I had to hold the chandelier up myself while drilling in the screws to anchor it back into the ceiling...It was tricky..and I definitely broke a sweat!

It wasn't snug up to the ceiling, so I decided to drill it into the ceiling, using a drywall  anchor first.  It did the trick! Notice the two different color tones, below you'll see how I made it all one color.

I painted the dome top of the chandelier to match the plate and just painted over the screws.  It was a small addition, but I think it adds more to her lovely room.  AND it only cost me a $1. AND now I know how to install a light fixture! Power to all you DIY'ers out there! Have a great day!
