Thimble flower pot necklace

I have recently started on Pinterest, and even though I do not know yet how to use it to its fullest capacity, I absolutely LOVE it!!! I saw this picture of a thimble necklace and thought it was the most clever and cute idea!

Here is the photo that I saw... I wanted mine to have more color and to use more texture.  So I decided to use my scraps of bright fabric I have in my stash.

I have this great knit fabric that my mom gave me that I love.  And it is green, so I thought I could use it to look like the foliage coming out of the thimble pot.  I frayed the edges to make it look more like grass.

Since I wanted more color, and because I love turquoise, I painted the thimble, and to my surprise I was able to drill a small hole on both sides of the thimble! Awesome.

Before placing the frayed fabric inside, I wrapped it in a small piece of green Styrofoam for the pin flowers to poke into.

I used small pins for my flowers.  I took five different and bright colored fabrics and cut them into a small circle.  Then I hot glued the pin and shaped the fabric circles around the pins.

And here you see a lovely bouquet of brightly colored flowers!

I dug into my stash of supplies and found these small rings which would be perfect to use to attach my chain.

I used this old necklace of mine that I just never wear anymore apart, and used the chains on both sides for my new thimble necklace.

And as this bright and delicate necklace hangs on my neck, it just makes me feel happy; like flowers are blooming right under my nose!  I just love this! Hope you enjoyed it!
Have a lovely day!!
